Where to stay when you've got a job interview in York

Choose your camp for the night, we wholeheartedly recommend …

Mid-priced

York Pavillion Main Street, Fulford, (01904) 622099 Excellent, albeit quite formal hotel. Good for getting you in the mood for being a high flying exec, until of course you have to take the bus into town. £70

Hudson Hotel 68 Bootham (01904) 621267 Attractive city centre hotel, and has the advantage of being 5 minutes from just about anywhere in town. £55

Budget

Black Bull Hull Road (01904) 411856 The bloke who wrote the James Bond theme lives opposite, and occasionally drinks in the hotel bar. That isn't much compensation for it being draughty, but it is handy for getting a bus into town. £39.50

Youngs Hotel 25 High Petergate (01904) 671001 Cheap and cheerful, and located in a nice part of town. Everything is on your doorstep, so it doesn't matter too much if you oversleep. £35

Bootham Bar Hotel 4 High Petergate (01904) 658516 Very similar to the above, but even cheaper. Woo hoo. £22
